    Age Groups

    Nursery

    6 Weeks - 2 Years

The main focus of the nursery room is providing an abundance of time and opportunities for children to establish new relationships on top of the few they have known since birth. It is important for us that babies can find a new sense of comfort and security within the Little Learners environment to kick-start their developmental journey in their early years.

    Toddler

    2-3 Years

The toddler room encourages children to explore and develop their sense of self. It is suited for children aged 2-3 and is integral to building social skills and emotional resilience. Encouraging children to eat positively and identify safety, social interactions, daily routines, and self-help skills is also crucial to their self-confidence and a big focus in the toddler room.

    Junior Kinder

    3 - 4 Year Olds

The friendships and knowledge 3-year-olds develop now will support them through primary school and beyond. The 3-year-old kindergarten room is part of the Victorian Funded Kinder Program established by the Department of Education. Our bachelor-qualified teacher ensures that all kindergarten curricula are age-appropriate to introduce the children to all the necessary skills for their kindergarten learning. Our formal kindergarten program operates every day between 8:30am and 4:30pm.

    Kinder

    4+ Years

The 4-year-old kindergarten room is where children explore self-expression through emotions, playing in different environments, and communicating with their social environment. As they learn new things about their being, we utilise their individual and group interests to contribute to our innovative new kindergarten programs. This is where they build their independence, self-help skills, and social and academic skills in a structured and supportive environment. The 4-year-old Kinder Room is part of the Victorian Funded Kinder Program, established by the Department of Education. Our formal kindergarten program operates every day between 8:30am and 4:30pm. The Kinder children are guided by their bachelor-qualified teacher to prepare for school.

    Frequently Asked Questions

While we've got the basics, a few personal touches from home can make your child's day extra special. We recommend packing a labelled set of spare clothes, a water bottle, and comfort items like toys and dummies. Please pack a sleeping bag and milk essentials, like bottles, formula, or breast milk if required.

Before your child’s first day and once enrolment is confirmed, we’ll invite you to a free two-hour visit. During this visit, your child can explore our vibrant learning spaces, and you can meet our dedicated team, ask any burning questions, and share important details about your child. This session will also create a smooth transition into our preschool in Camberwell.

Stay positive! Turn drop-off into a happy moment by taking a few minutes to help your little one settle in. Mornings can be hectic, but spending time to find an activity your child enjoys and saying goodbye can lead to a better start to their day. Our amazing team will always be there to assist. Feel free to call the centre after you've left for an update on how your child is doing.

The educator-to-child ratio varies based on age and location; we always meet or exceed this ratio. - From 0 to 24 months, the ratio is 1:4 in all states and territories. - From 24 to 36 months, the ratio is 1:4 in VIC. - Over 36 months, the ratio is 1:11 in QLD, SA, and VIC. You can find out more about it on the ACECQA website.

Choosing the right childcare in Camberwell is crucial. Look for a place where you feel at ease and trust your child will be secure, content, and well-cared for. Seek a setting that fosters learning, where skilled educators guide and model behaviour to help kids become capable and self-reliant and learn essential life skills. Don't forget to weigh factors that affect your family, such as the centre's location, fees, and what's included in the service.

Mayfield Early Education Centres strive to meet or surpass the National Quality Standards and Regulatory requirements for early childhood services. We continually update our policies and procedures to ensure children, families, and staff understand their roles and responsibilities in keeping kids happy, safe, and secure. Parents or guardians of children at Mayfield Early Education can learn more by visiting www.mayfield.com.au/policies. Eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) in Victoria involves several key factors, including your household income, your child’s age, the approved childcare service, and your family’s involvement in work, study, or volunteering activities. Australian citizens and permanent residents can apply for the CSS.

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) can cover up to 100 hours of childcare per fortnight. The number of subsidised hours you're eligible for is tied to your family's level of work, study, volunteering, and other approved engagements. The more time you dedicate to these activities, the more subsidised childcare hours you can access.

We have been at this centre for over 5 years and have had an exceptional experience. The carers are very nurturing and dedicated and are almost an extended family to ours. We would highly recommend.

Great centre with efficient educators and staff. My child loves this place and we as parents feel secured and at ease knowing that our child is in safe/caring hands. Amazing team!

My little one first day care in Melbourne. No other day care is as good as this. Excellent Educators. We are very lucky to get the admission. My little one is only for 1 .5 years but it has laid strong foundation on her skills. Thanks to each and everyone of you.
