Starfish & Turtle Rooms
6 weeks - 15 months
For our youngest ones, aged 6 weeks to 15 months, we have the Starfish Room, providing a cozy and caring environment. As children reach around 10-12 months, based on their developmental milestones, they transition to our Turtle Nursery. This move allows them to explore and become more active. Both the Starfish and Turtle Rooms offer dedicated outdoor spaces, providing a nurturing and engaging start to their childcare journey.
Dolphin and Mantaray Rooms
15 months - 2 years
The children first move to the Dolphin Room from the Turtle Nursery which offers a nice gentle transition into the main Yard. As they grow and reach around the 18-month mark, children usually progress from the Dolphin Room to the Mantaray Room. However, this transition may vary depending on availability and individual children's developmental progress. We aim to provide a supportive and flexible environment that caters to each child's unique needs and readiness.
Shark Room
2 - 3 years
The final room on the Reef Centre. Once they turn 2.5 Years they are able to start transitioning to the Rainforest centre but this is dependent on communications with the family, development and availability as it can sometimes be a longer transition from Reef to rainforest.
Kookaburra & Koala Room
2.5 - 3 years
The Kookaburra and Koala rooms give little ones a smooth transition from Reef to Rainforest. Here the children are able to gain more independence preparing them for the world.
Echidnas & Bilby Rooms
3 - 4 years
We have two rooms for our three year olds to progress into depending on their development. Children move to this room first from either Kookaburras or Koalas.
Cassowary Rooms
4 Years +
The final stage of our centre is our Pre Kindy and Kindy Cassowary rooms. Here your child will begin preparing for life after Mayfield Cannonvale. With our accredited Kindergarten program, your child will learn how to be independent and school ready!

Hey, I'm Bec, and I have over 20 years experience in the Childcare industry, I am advanced diploma qualified with 7 Years experience as a Centre Manager. My approach to childcare is to foster honest and respectful relationships with all, children, families and educators.
Frequently Asked Questions
We provide most of the essentials that may be needed throughout the day. We ask that you pack and label; spare clothes, water bottle, comfort items/dummies. And if your child requires a sleeping bag, milk bottles, formula, or breast milk.
We offer orientation sessions for families to come along before the first day to have a short play with us. These sessions are usually close to the first day and act as a good lead in. It gives you, your child, and the educators time to get to know each other and the opportunity to ask any questions or provide important information. These sessions are usually organized once enrolment is confirmed, they last for 2 hours and are free of charge. Talking about it at home is also a great way to get your child excited for all the amazing experiences they will get to be a part of.
Be positive! Make the drop off a happy experience and take a few minutes to help your child to settle in. The mornings can be busy, but taking some time to find an activity your child enjoys and saying goodbye can help for a smoother start to their day. There will always be a warm and caring educator on hand to help. You are always welcome to give the centre a call after you have left for an update.
The educator to child ratio varies depending on state and territory, we meet or exceed this ratio. 0 to 24 months the ratio is 1:4 in all states and territories. 24 to 36 months the ratio is 1:5 in QLD and SA, and 1:4 in VIC. Over 36 months the ratio is 1:11 in QLD, SA and VIC. You can find out more on the ACECQA website.
It is important to take the time to find a centre where you feel confident and comfortable and know your child will be safe, happy, and protected.
