    Meet Sandra

Hi there, My name is Sandra, and I am the Centre Manager at Clyde North. I have been an early childhood educator in the childcare industry for 30 years. I have an Advanced Diploma in Community Management and a Diploma of Community Service (Childcare) and have worked in varying settings such as the council, community-based, and corporations. I truly believe it takes a village to raise a child and believe in the profound importance of family, educators, and the Clyde North community in young children's lives.

    Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve covered most of the essentials for your child’s day, but we ask that you pack and label a few personal items, like spare clothes, a water bottle, and any comfort items like toys and dummies. If your child needs a sleeping bag or milk supplies (bottles, formula, or breast milk), don’t forget to pack those as well!

We offer orientation sessions for families to come and have a short play with us before your child’s first day. These sessions, typically held close to the start date, are a great way to ease into our nurturing environment. It allows you, your child, and our educators to get familiar with each other, build strong relationships, ask questions, and share important details. Once enrolment is confirmed, we’ll organise a free, two-hour session. Talking about the visit at home is also a great way to get your child excited about all the fun experiences ahead!

Stay positive! Make drop-off a happy moment by helping your child settle in for a few minutes. Mornings can be hectic, but finding an activity they enjoy and saying a cheerful goodbye can set a smooth tone for their day. There will always be a warm, caring educator ready to assist. And if you want an update after you’ve left, feel free to call our qualified educators!

The educator-to-child ratio varies based on age and location; we always meet or exceed this ratio. - From 0 to 24 months, the ratio is 1:4 in all states and territories. - From 24 to 36 months, the ratio is 1:4 in VIC. - Over 36 months, the ratio is 1:11 in QLD, SA, and VIC. You can find out more about it on the ACECQA website.

It’s essential to take the time to choose a centre where you feel confident that your child will be safe, happy, and well cared for. Look for a place that offers a nurturing learning environment where experienced educators provide guidance and role models to help children grow into independent, capable individuals with important life skills. Also, don’t forget to consider practical factors like location, cost, and what’s included to find the best fit for your family.

At our preschool and kindergarten in Clyde North, we strive to meet or exceed the National Quality Standards and regulatory requirements for early childhood services. Eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) in Victoria is based on several key factors, including your household income, your child’s age, the type of approved childcare service, and your family’s involvement in work, study, or volunteering. Both Australian citizens and permanent residents are eligible to apply for the CCS.

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) can provide up to 100 hours of early childhood education or childcare every fortnight. Your eligibility for these hours is based on your family’s participation in work, study, volunteering, or other approved activities. The more time you dedicate to these, the more subsidised hours of childcare you can access.

As a first time mum I was very nervous about sending my son to childcare but at mayfield they are so inviting and reassuring from the moment you step in the door! I could not be more comfortable and confident in leaving my boy there. My son has been attending Mayfield for a few years now and will be entering into the 4 year old kinder next year and we are so excited to watch his journey. The centre have been fantastic with his development needs and helping us with working through his emotions and behaviours in a positive and supportive way. The director and assistant director are always so friendly and helpful with anything we need and always respond to emails or phone calls in a timely and friendly manner. No matter what staff member I deal with they are always warm and welcoming and willing to help with any questions I have. I cannot recommend Mayfield enough they are outstanding 🙂🙂🙂🙂
