Welcome to Mayfield Early Education Gordonvale, where we're dedicated to providing exceptional education and care for children ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years old. Our team of qualified educators are here to nurture and guide your child's growth and development.
Our early childhood educators are not just teachers; they are mentors and champions of play-based learning. We strive to ignite a lifelong love for learning in your child within our home away from home. Our educational programs are thoughtfully designed to be emergent, adapting to the interests and needs of the children.
We invite you to explore our centre, where you can discover our high-quality curriculum, inspiring learning environments, and the passionate team that makes Mayfield Early Education Gordonvale a second home for your child. Join us on this enriching journey, where learning is an adventure filled with curiosity and joy.
For babies aged 6 weeks to 15 months old, our Nursery room environment is a calm, nurturing space designed to keep babies safe as they explore their world around them. Babies have access to a safe & relaxing sleep room environment within the Nursery, consisting of cots/beds to make for a comfortable sleep as required. Our flexible program encourages babies to learn self help skills required to reach important developmental milestones as they grow and to ensure their individual routines and needs are being met and to assist in developing a sense of agency. Babies have opportunities to interact with siblings and other age groups throughout the program to assist in forming strong connections & in developing a sense of belonging as part of our Mayfield Family.
For Toddlers aged 15 months to 2 years old, our Toddler room environment encourages indoor-outdoor opportunities for our energetic little people to enquire, explore and socialise with one another. Our age-appropriate program allows children opportunities to challenge themselves as they start to conquer some of their physical abilities such as climbing, balancing, coordination, fine motor manipulation. Children are supported to be themselves as they become more aware of their feelings, emotions and identity, fostering a great sense of curiosity, engagement and wonder.
For children aged 2 to 3 years old, our Junior Kindy room environment offers a unique and spacious indoor-outdoor program that allows children to explore their environments with all their senses through investigative, imaginative and exploratory play. In doing so, children can express themselves freely, make decisions, and become more confident learners, hence supporting healthy minds. Children are challenged and supported to be independent learners throughout the program as they continue to grow.
For children aged 3 to 4 years old, our Kindy room environment is play-based, as research shows that "play" shapes the structural design of the brain and creates a positive view of oneself. Our educators facilitate an ongoing cycle of planning, interacting, monitoring, and reflecting, and the children help co-construct the curriculum and programs as they interact with our educators and other children.
For children aged 4 to 5 years old, our Pre-Prep room environment facilitates opportunities for learning that prompts experimentation, problem solving, risky play, resilience, interaction with others, and respect for the environment as well as for others. Children participate in a range of experiences and interactions within the community to enrich their learning, such as excursions/incursions which prepares children as a part of the transitioning process and school readiness for the following year.
All inclusions are subject to availability and are provided at the discretion of the centre director.

We provide most of the essentials that may be needed throughout the day. We ask that you pack and label; spare clothes, water bottle, comfort items/dummies. And if your child requires a sleeping bag, milk bottles, formula, or breast milk.
We offer orientation sessions for families to come along before the first day to have a short play with us. These sessions are usually close to the first day and act as a good lead in. It gives you, your child, and the educators time to get to know each other and the opportunity to ask any questions or provide important information. These sessions are usually organized once enrolment is confirmed, they last for 2 hours and are free of charge. Talking about it at home is also a great way to get your child excited for all the amazing experiences they will get to be a part of.
Be positive! Make the drop off a happy experience and take a few minutes to help your child to settle in. The mornings can be busy, but taking some time to find an activity your child enjoys and saying goodbye can help for a smoother start to their day. There will always be a warm and caring educator on hand to help. You are always welcome to give the centre a call after you have left for an update.
The educator to child ratio varies depending on state and territory, we meet or exceed this ratio. 0 to 24 months the ratio is 1:4 in all states and territories. 24 to 36 months the ratio is 1:5 in QLD and SA, and 1:4 in VIC. Over 36 months the ratio is 1:11 in QLD, SA and VIC. You can find out more on the ACECQA website.
It is important to take the time to find a centre where you feel confident and comfortable and know your child will be safe, happy, and protected. Find a centre that provides a learning environment where careful guidance and role modelling by educators can help children become competent, independent and develop valuable life skills. It is also important to consider aspects that will impact your family such as location, cost, and inclusions.
All Mayfield Early Education centres aim to meet or exceed the National Quality Standards and Regulatory requirements of an early childhood service. Prior to deciding on Mayfield Gordonvale we had looked at 7 different centres in the area after narrowing it down. As soon as we had our orientation we were sold. Mayfield Gordonvale has the most welcoming atmosphere. The emphasis on nature and creative play is wonderful for our kids growing minds. The educators have always gone above and beyond. Our experience with the centre has led us to recommend it to friends who have enrolled their children as well.
