    Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve covered most of the day’s essentials, but we kindly ask that you pack and label a few personal items. Please include spare clothes, water bottles, and comfort items like dummies. If your child needs a sleeping bag or milk supplies (bottles, formula, or breast milk), don’t forget to pop those in, too!

We offer orientation sessions for families to come in and have a short play with us before the big first day. These sessions are scheduled close to your child's start date and are a great way to ease into the new routine. It’s the perfect chance for parents, children, and educators to get to know each other, ask any questions, and share important details. Once enrolment is confirmed, we’ll arrange a free, two-hour session. Talking about the visit at home is also a fun way to get your child excited for all the amazing adventures ahead!

Stay upbeat! Turn drop-off into a positive experience by helping your child settle in for a few minutes. Mornings can be hectic, but taking the time to find an activity they enjoy and giving a warm goodbye can make their day start on the right foot. There’s always a friendly, caring educator nearby to offer support. And if you want to check in after you’ve left, feel free to call the centre for an update!

The educator-to-child ratio varies based on age and location; we always meet or exceed this ratio at our preschool and kindergarten in Dandenong. - From 0 to 24 months, the ratio is 1:4 in all states and territories. - From 24 to 36 months, the ratio is 1:4 in VIC. - Over 36 months, the ratio is 1:11 in QLD, SA, and VIC. You can find out more about it on the ACECQA website.

It is of utmost importance to find a centre where you feel confident that your child will be safe, happy, and well cared for. Look for a nurturing learning environment where educators provide thoughtful guidance and act as role models, helping children grow into independent and capable individuals. Be sure to consider practical factors like location, cost, and included services to ensure that the centre fits your family.

At Mayfield Early Education, we are dedicated to meeting or exceeding the National Quality Standards and regulatory requirements for early childhood services. We continuously update our policies and procedures to ensure that children, families, and educators understand their roles in maintaining a safe environment. As a parent or guardian, you can learn more by visiting www.mayfield.com.au/policies. This page is password-protected; you can get the password from your Centre Manager once your enrolment is confirmed.

Eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) in Victoria depends on a few key factors, such as your household income, the ages of your children, the type of approved childcare service, and your family’s participation in work, study, or volunteering. Both Australian citizens and permanent residents are welcome to apply for the CCS.

The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) can offer up to 100 hours of early childhood education or childcare every fortnight. The number of hours you qualify for is linked to your family’s involvement in work, study, volunteering, or other approved activities. The more time you dedicate to these, the more subsidised childcare hours you can receive.

We provide nutritious meals, including morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea. All meals are prepared fresh on-site and cater to dietary needs, allergies, and special preferences. We work closely with families to ensure that all meals suit children with allergies or special dietary needs. Our team follows strict protocols to prevent cross-contamination and ensure every child’s safety.

Yes, we understand that every family has different needs. Being a long daycare option, our Dandenong centre offers flexible drop-off and pick-up times during our 11-hour sessions.
