Welcome to the idyllic community of Bacchus Marsh, where Mayfield Maddingley (formerly Genius Childcare Maddingley) is nestled amidst rolling hills and lush vegetable farms. Our centre is where the journey of learning and growth unfolds through play-based learning, guided by our dedicated and diverse team of educators.
At Mayfield Maddingley, we take pride in offering five distinct rooms that cater to children's individual developmental milestones. Each child is encouraged to become a capable and engaged learner, embarking on a path of self-discovery and exploration.
We believe in the power of community, which extends to recognising the traditional custodians of the land upon which we play—the Woiwurrung and Wathaurong People of the Kulin Nation. We encourage children and their families to embrace their connection to nature, whether it's through the wonder of dirt, the joy of sand, or the fascination of water. Doing so instils a respect and sense of responsibility for the environment and the world surrounding us.
Our preschool in Maddingley is not just a place of learning; it's a place where children grow, flourish, and develop a deep understanding of their place in the world. We invite you to be a part of our community, where curiosity knows no bounds and the beauty of nature is celebrated every day.

Welcome to our babies room. Room 1 is a busy room with lots of individual routines that are created in consultation with parents and families for the best comfort and growth of your child. Room 1 holds 12 children daily and has five permanent staff who rotate shifts to make this room as consistent as possible to help children feel valued and safe.
Room 2 is where the fun begins, as the children here can walk and play. The children learn daily through play-based learning programmed around interests, needs, and nurturing. Room 2 has its own sleep room, which allows educators to continue flexible routines that meet children's need for rest and play while moving towards a more group-based routine for meals, rest, and play. Room 2 has 16 children per day and has 5 -6 permanent staff who participate in the children's education and play each day.
Room 3 is an exciting, fast-paced room with lots to see and do. Our toddlers in this room enjoy lots of different environments that are purposely programmed around them to excite and develop their sense of wonder and exploration of the world around them. Self-help skill, talking, and gross motor skills are big developments that happen in this room. With 16 unique little people in this room each day, there is always something new to learn, and our team of 5-6 permanent staff are always learning and growing alongside your child.
Room 4 is an amazing new space that combines the funded 3-year-old kindergarten program that has been rolled out over the last two years by the Victorian government and our engaging long daycare program led by a qualified early education teacher and two assistants. This room facilitates the childrens’ rapid growth in knowledge, problem-solving skills and personal development, and with up to 30 children a day in this room, there is always something to do and new people to play with.
Room 5 is a government-funded 4-year-old kindergarten room led by a qualified early childhood teacher and a professional team of supportive assistant educators. This room helps the children to develop their independence, self-regulation, and autonomy, while encouraging them to use their voice and language to communicate their needs and thoughts. This is all accomplished through a play-based learning curriculum geared towards school readiness and developmental milestones. We strive to help children gain the knowledge and confidence to move into the next phase of their learning journey.

We provide most of the essentials that may be needed throughout the day. Please pack and label spare clothes, a water bottle, comfort items/dummies, and, if your child requires a sleeping bag, milk bottles, formula, or breast milk.
We offer orientation sessions for families to come along before the first day to have a short play with us. These sessions are usually close to the first day and act as a good lead-in. They give you, your child, and the educators time to get to know each other and the opportunity to ask any questions or provide important information. These sessions are usually organised once enrolment is confirmed. They last for two hours and are free of charge. Talking about it at home is also a great way to get your child excited about all the amazing experiences they will have.
Be positive! Make the drop-off a happy experience, and take a few minutes to help your child settle in. Mornings can be busy, but taking some time to find an activity your child enjoys and saying goodbye can help for a smoother start to their day. There will always be a warm and caring educator on hand to help. You are always welcome to call the centre after you leave for an update.
The educator-to-child ratio varies. From 0 to 24 months, it is 1:4 in all states and territories. From 24 to 36 months, it is 1:4 in VIC. Over 36 months, it is 1:11 in VIC. You can find out more about it on the ACECQA website.
It is important to take the time to find a centre where you feel confident and comfortable and know your child will be safe, happy, and protected. Find a centre that provides a learning environment where careful guidance and role-modelling by educators can help children become competent and independent and develop valuable life skills. It is also important to consider aspects that will impact your family, such as location, cost, and inclusions.

As a first time mum I was extremely nervous to head back to work and leave my daughter in the care of others. Upon our initial walk through of the centre, I knew this was the one for us. We instantly felt welcome by all the staff, the centre is so clean and well maintained, the staff go above and beyond for our daughter, right down to ringing me when she has a day off to make sure she is okay! She loves going here and has a wonderful group of educators and friends in her room. Highly recommend this centre to all of my family and friends who are expecting :)

The transition into care is always a very daunting time but the patience and kindness the educators have shown my son and I has been amazing and made it a very smooth process. Always feel very welcome, highly recommend!

Our son has attended for over two years and we have always found staff to be supportive and attentive. Extra care has always been paid to my son’s additional needs and any concerns raised have always been taken seriously and addressed swiftly. We look forward to enrolling our second child soon, knowing he will experience the same high standards of care.
