Our nursery room caters for children aged 12 weeks to 2 years, focusing on providing a nurturing and warm environment whilst building strong and trusting relationships. Our individual outdoor environment, with a covered sandpit, provides our nursery children options to explore both indoor and outdoor experiences in a safe, secure location while engaging with educators and starting to create connections with new friends. A separate sleep room allows children to have flexible and individual sleep routines.
Our toddler room caters to children aged 2 to 3. Expanding on children's emerging relationships, we believe all children are capable, creative, and powerful learners who desire connections with others. Our toddlers are provided opportunities to learn and explore materials in indoor and outdoor environments. Our purpose-built play structures encourage children to learn from peers while extending physical activity.
Our 3-year-old room caters to long day care and kindergarten kids from 3 to 4 years. Our early childhood teacher supports our qualified assistant educators, focusing on beginning our transition to primary school, building on existing relationships with our community, peers, and educators, and growing our independence. The children can expand their physical skills and development by utilising our large outdoor space, shared with children from 2 years, complemented by fixed climbing structures and vegetable patches.
Our 4-year-old room caters for long-day and kindergarten children from 4 to 6 years. Our early childhood teacher supports our qualified assistant educators, focusing on school readiness and transitions. The whole team works collaboratively to support children's independence, self-help, and social and academic skills in a structured and supportive environment. Our emergent programs allow the children to contribute in developing their curriculum, which is guided by individual and group interests so they can learn at their own pace. In support of the learning outcomes we seek for every child, the kinder group also participate in many intentional teaching experiences throughout the year, like water safety, road safety, school readiness, literacy and numeracy projects, cooking, pet awareness responsibility, health and hygiene, and many more.
Our Montessori educational program caters for a combined age group of 3-6 year olds. Our qualified Montessori teacher, supported by qualified assistant educators, implements this educational program. Incorporated into our long-day setting, our Montessori program includes school readiness and transition while focusing on the four main areas of Montessori learning in a preschool program: Practical Life, Sensorial, Language and Mathematics. Considerable emphasis is also placed on Creative Arts, Music, Science, Geography and Cultural Studies.
All inclusions are subject to availability and are provided at the discretion of the centre director.

We prioritise individualised attention for every child. Our educator-to-child ratios are carefully designed to ensure optimal care and development: - Infants & toddlers (0-24 months): We maintain an intimate 1:4 ratio across all regions, allowing for close bonds and attentive care. - Twos (24-36 months): In Victoria, we continue the 1:4 ratio, recognising the unique needs of this transitional age group. - Preschoolers (36+ months): As children grow more independent, we adjust to a 1:11 ratio, balancing group dynamics with individual support. These ratios reflect our dedication to quality early childhood education. For more detailed information on national quality standards, we recommend visiting the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) website.
When selecting an early learning centre for your child, finding a place that resonates with your family values and nurtures their potential is crucial. Look for a centre where you feel confident. Your child's safety, happiness, and wellbeing should be the top priorities. Look for a space that fosters growth through thoughtful guidance and positive role-modelling. A great team of educators will help your child develop independence, competence, and essential life skills while creating a strong sense of belonging and community. Don’t forget to factor in logistics that affect your family dynamics. Location, costs, inclusions, and services are all important considerations.
Mayfield Early Education in Sydenham is committed to meeting and exceeding the national quality framework and early years learning framework. We regularly assess and refine our policies and procedures to ensure that children, families, and educators understand their roles and create a safe and nurturing environment for all children. Eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) in Victoria involves several key factors, including your household income, your child’s age, the approved childcare service, and your family’s involvement in work, study, or volunteering activities. Australian citizens and permanent residents can apply for the CSS.
The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is designed to lighten the load for busy families and can cover up to 100 hours of childcare per fortnight. The number of subsidised hours you're eligible for is directly tied to your family's level of recognised activities, including work, study, volunteering, and other approved engagements. The more time you dedicate to these activities, the more subsidised childcare hours you can access.

Great childcare, daughter 2y7m is in since august 23 and settled in very quickly, no crying when I leave in the morning and she is busy the whole day with fun and interesting activities. Staff is beautiful, warm and welcoming and i feel comfortable that my "bunny" s in good hands the whole time. Greatful for the center being so flexible with my requests and helping my LO with her development. LO loves it here and her happy face says it all. Manager Kylie is just as loving, helpful and kind as all the amazing staff in the center. From the first orientation we knew that this is the place where we want to stay. Thank you and keep up the good work. Highly recommend.

This is my first time putting my 4 year old and 2 year old in childcare. I am so happy I decided to go with this kinder. The staff are absolutely amazing, so warm and welcoming and you can see they genuinely adore the kids at the centre. They always are able to update me on my kids time at the centre without every having to ask and they know exactly what’s going on with every child. I’m so happy to have found a centre where my kids and I are comfortable. Thank you to the whole team there and especially Kylie for just being amazing and helping me navigate a new phase of my kids life. Would highly recommend.
